Dear His Holiness Pope Francis, President Obama and Mr. Mark Zuckerberg - Day 1

Day 1

This letter is the first of what may be many, in an attempt to gain an audience with each of you.   I have an idea that I believe, with your help, we could make happen together.  In fact, I am sure that if this request reaches each one of you and you accept my invitation for a meeting of the minds, together, we will be able to bring an actionable plan of peace to this earth.

Like each of you, I believe that with a great degree of will power and a determined effort, even the most impossible of dreams can come true.  All three of you, each in your own unique ways, are living examples of that fact and I deeply admire the service, commitment and connection that you have brought to this world and offered its inhabitants.  I ask each of you to take one more leap of faith because I know deep in my heart, it is only with faith that what seems impossible has a chance of becoming real.

My mission is to get the United Nations to declare an individual Day of Peace in each and every country in the world and stretch them out, one by one, day after day, alongside one another.

Currently, the United Nations has declared an International Day of Peace, calling for every nation to lay down their arms on one single day.  I feel that it is too grand of an approach to ask the entire world to lay down its arms all at once.

A more effective and realizable approach is to start in one country where there is currently no fighting within its borders, throw a huge celebration uniting artists and leaders, preachers and scientists, healers and the sick and then pass it the next day to another country, following suit day by day, until we have created a filibuster for peace.

Once we've exhausted all of the countries without war, we will turn to the nations where there is fighting and ask them to lay down their arms for a single, solitary day with the aid of the world's military and economic might.

One day at a time, nation by nation, we will march toward peace in the greatest celebration this earth has every seen.  PeaceCraft.Us is a concept whose time has come.  It combines the concept of Live Aid from the 80's with United State Senate's filibuster along with an Alternate Reality Game that could be played by participants around the world, online and off, each day spreading the concept of a Peace Filibuster.

Of course, it is impossible for us to bring about peace.  It can't be done.  There will always be war, but that is not the question this letter poses to each one of you.  The question is not whether we can ultimately achieve a momentary peace on this earth.  The question I pose to each of you is "What's your verse?"

I am confident that the three of you together could make this idea a reality.  It is doable.  It is possible, and I am not going to let go of my dream until we are able to bring about this vision.

Toward that end, I have committed to write the three of you every day for the next year.  I am asking you, begging you, to take one hour of your valuable time and allow me to present what could be the biggest event in all of human history.  Perhaps, the current President of the United States could be cajoled to lend his weight to the effort.  He is in, indeed, someone who likes a good show.

What on this earth is more worth the effort than, for one tiny moment, having the world unite in a common peace.

I look forward to hearing from you and beseech anyone reading this letter to join me in writing your own letter in the comments section for the next 365 days in an effort to make this meeting happen.

Hopefully, it won't take that long, but some things are well worth the wait.

In your service.

Sincerely,

Brian Mannix
